Word up to everybody who has experienced or heard of / not experienced or not heard of the legacy that we call: RADLANDS! Obviously you have heard the name now cause you’re on radlands dot com. For those that don’t know Watch and Read.

Radlands Skatepark was opened on 14th November 1992 and sadly closed its doors for the last time on 31st October 2004

In the beginning there was ONE STOP.

Ince SNR (Chris) was this loud, exuberant, mad & ‘that bloke’s a nutter’ kind of guy. He owned a café in Milk & Beans bus station which hosted some of the best granite ledges in the world. You could say apart from the floor it was one of the best skate spots anywhere. Along with the rest of the City Milton Keynes was the best place to skate in the UK. This drove flocks of Skateboarders there. ‘Where did they get all there gear from and where else do they go to skate? Skateparks maybe? ’ he thought to himself. He knew really cause his two lads were skaters. The nearest real skate shop was 30 miles away. BING!!. The idea light lit up in his head. Let’s start selling skate stuff as well as teas, coffees and brekkies. Why travel 30 miles to a skate shop when you could have one of your own and other people will come to you.

The nearest supplier was Dee See supplies which was Jeremy Fox’s company Deathbox! At the time Europe’s #1 company. This has now turned into the worlds best sk8 company FLIP! This was only down the road in Wellingboro. Who would have thought Flip started out in the small Northants smack town of Wellingboro? The first order of goods in was only 3 decks (Pete Dossett, Mark Van Der Eng, and Sean Goff Pro models) and some stickers. They flew off the shelves like hotcakes on a cold winter’s morn. Before you knew it orders built up to many decks at a time and clothing and wheels etc….

Other hardware was needed strong Jeremy Fox so he gave contacts for other skateboard distributors. Before long a well stocked skateboarding Boutique was established. A big skate scene was building up and 50 or so skaters were there every weekend without fail. There were those who were there near enough every day Rob Selly, Mark Wright, Leo Sharpe, Stocker, James & Lindsay Knight, Jasper, Jessop, Evers, Dean and Doc to name a few Keynes Locals. Dave Holman, Ben Dallow, Christian (RIP), Ben Rose, Bryan Whyn (where are you now????), Bert, Trev, Kev Lamey, Dan Bently, Swanny, Josh, Ian Sibbly Mark Oneil, Kin Kin, to name a few Hampton headz who regulated.

Spring 1992

A Bomb went off at The Pioneer youth club. 400 + skaters attended a comp at St Albans indoor Skatepark which was attended by all the top British rippers plus Salman Agah and a couple of other yanks. It was as if a bomb went off but it was fireworks being let off in a big crowd near riot status. After this comp went off in massive proportions, Keynes locals banged heads with Chris (mad skate shop/café owner) to organise a comp at the Buzzy (bus Station). Chris being up for anything went ahead and organized the comp. The date was set out sponsorship via One Stop Skate Shop, Deathbox and New Deal. The word then spread about the first ever UK skate comp on the real street. R.A.D. (UK’s top skateboard magazine) were there and covered the comp.
